My schedule is on my laptop.
You have grade one classes all morning. Please try this boomwacker song with them. I was away, not sure if my computer was shut down. The boomwacker rhythms can be found on the lesson under E drive - boomwacker lesson. If my computer was left open, it should still be open.
This lesson may be difficult for grade one, but they should have fun trying it.

First go over rhythms - names of notes (including eighth note triplet). Clap rhythms - little red is the hardest. They have not seen an eighth rest before. See if they can guess it's name by using the heart wall.
I line them up in rows of three and pass out each colour needed for the piece. If there are more students, just use the other colours, or add drums to big red and even handbells colours to match.
After the song is complete, have students move down the row. Put down boomwacker and move to the left to a new colour. little reds go to the front of the line for big reds.
After they've played each colour, have them spread out with the colour they started with and come up with their own ostinato.

If there is time and you feel up to it...
I would then give students 'free' time. (they are usually really good at this - they know the routine)
I placed out some new sheets they can colour/draw/compose.
- beads are included (just don't let them mix African and NMES beads please. (I would like 7 or 8 NMES beads to make bracelets and anklets). African - depends on the size. Just place them on my desk or the bookshelf and I can tie them if you prefer and please don't feel you have to do beads at all....
The threads on the bookshelf are for bookmarks. This is new, but easy to do if anyone is interested.
4 threads 40 cm each.

Students would also really enjoy watching music videos from the site ie Just for fun
if you need another lesson : Ostinato
You could also practice our assembly song: Yellow Submarine
and the family pinic flash dance: Happy
Please know that whatever lesson you do is fine (we're at that time of the year) :-)

Grade 2 students did this lesson on Tuesday, my suggestion would be to bring out all the rhythm instruments and have them try the boomwacker ostinatoes on them. (ie substitute big red with drums, little reds with jingle bells)
They are also very able to have free center time for the entire class - they are used to this

Grade 5 classes in the afternoon will be more challenging, especially the last class. (1 hour long)
They must practice the graduation song found on the front page or here: graduation song
also the happy dance - both will be performed next wednesday. They should master the boomwacker song well.
They also use free time well.

Have fun - please call if you need help: 458-8183
